Bethlehem Farmers’ Market at Campus Square Back for the 2013 Season!

New offerings include a third produce vendor, lunch items, and rotating specialty vendor spot

Beginning May 16, the Bethlehem Farmers’ Market at Campus Square will be back at Lehigh University to offer fresh produce, lunch items, baked goods, and more to local residents. Running for its 11^th year in a row, the Bethlehem Farmers’ Market will be open each Thursday from May 16 through October 31, 11am to 3pm at Campus Square, located at New & Morton Streets in South Bethlehem.

This year will feature 14 vendors, located all around the Square. There will be 3 produce vendors at the market this year; Bechdolt’s Orchards and Lettuce Alone are returning with Heritage Farm/CSA making its debut. For lunch, there are a couple of new choices including Tomblers Home Bakery (English-style pasties) and Hellertown Deli & Pita, with returning vendors The Island Taste, Wrap’d Tight, and M&B Farview farm, who in addition to their lunch sandwiches, also sell packaged meats, cheeses, eggs, milk, and poultry.

Bakers this year include returning vendors Back Door Bakeshop, Quetzal Bakery, Sweet Love Cupcakes, and Tasty Pastry. The Popcorn Pit and A Natural Alternative (homemade soaps and toiletries) are back as well. The Bethlehem Farmers’ Market is also hoping to introduce a rotating, specialty vendor space in June, which would be a nice complement to the vendors already participating. There is room for a vendor who offers mushrooms, cheese, loaves of bread, spreads, honey, syrup, and fresh-cut flowers. Vendor applications are available on Campus Square’s website.

Every other Thursday will feature a musical performance at Campus Square, to enhance the shopping and dining experience. Past favorites include Billy Bauer, Dave Fry, Brittany Ann, Elena Gambino, and Scott McKenna, with new appearances by Mike Halliday, Karen & Amy Jones, and “Not for Coltrane.”

The market provides a unique shopping opportunity; it is the perfect location for the Southside Bethlehem and Lehigh communities to come together to shop and dine in the square. Additionally, this market supports local farmers and businesses within the Lehigh Valley. Shoppers are able to develop relationships with these neighborhood vendors, sample products, and learn about all the unique food varieties that the market has to offer. Some vendors accept EBT and FMNP vouchers. There are metered parking spaces available in the Campus Square parking garage and along Morton and 4^th streets. First Friday in Campus Square – April 5, 2013

Come celebrate First Friday in Campus Square on April 5, 2013! We’re teaming up
with South Bethlehem to make it an event you won’t forget.

From 6 pm-10 pm on Friday, April 5th, Campus Square will be hosting a party
complete with giveaways from Lehigh Athletics, specials at all Campus
Square stores, an appearance by Lehigh’s Men’s Lacrosse players, and from 6:30-9:30 a musical
performance by the Billy Bauer Band Duo.

There will also be action happening all over the Southside: check out the
shops and restaurants along Morton, New, 3rd, and 4th streets to see what
specials your local community is bringing you! For full details of all

The theme of April’s First Friday is “Autism Awareness,” so there will also
be artwork painted by autistic children on display. So come enjoy the

The 2012-2013 “The Shirt” Arrives at the Lehigh Bookstore 3/11

For the seventh year in a row, the Lehigh Bookstore and Lehigh University Business Services (UBS) have teamed up to keep one of Lehigh’s favorite traditions going. “The Shirt,” a shirt that is student-designed annually to commemorate the school year, is available for purchase at the Bookstore beginning on March 11^th.

For just the second year in a row, “The Shirt” was created by a Lehigh student. We offer congratulations to Lisa Glover, class of 2013 for her winning design! Her design focuses on the theme “Soaring to meet every challenge,” while depicting iconic Lehigh scenes and moments.

The winning t-shirt was chosen among twelve different entries by a committee of Lehigh students, faculty and staff. It is a brown t-shirt with a white design. The images can be seen below.

“The Shirt” retails for $20.98 and will only be available at the Bookstore until the end of the year.

Johnny’s Bagels Sponsors Lehigh Men’s Lacrosse Games

Johnny’s Bagels is proud to present several Lehigh Men’s Lacrosse games this year! The first three games of the season are free to all, but games vs. UMass, Navy, Colgate and Lafayette are Summit Series events sponsored by Johnny’s. Tickets only five dollars and free with a Lehigh ID.

The Mountain Hawks are ranked #10 in the preseason Media Poll and #11 in the Coaches poll, and are coming off their first-ever Patriot League Tournament Title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2012.

Johnny’s Bagels Closed for Renovations

Johnny’s Bagels will be closed January 1 through January 14, 2013 for renovations to the business. They should be reopen on January 14, the first day of the spring semester at Lehigh University.
